IZZY GRAHAM

MY BIO
Born to perform
Ever since she's been able to walk and talk, Izzy has always had a soft spot for performing, whether it be reciting the lines and songs of High School Musical with her sister in her grandparents garden, or doing what she loves on a stage in front of hundreds. Being a bold and excitable child, Izzy enjoyed putting all her energy into performing for her family and friends and she felt very comfortable being a room full of children who had the same ideas, it was the first time Izzy truly felt at home!

Izzy started attending classes at Rose Red Arts near her home in Eltham and continued performing in their company for two years, during this time she performed in two of their annual shows at the Mick Jagger Centre in Dartford, where she showcased some song, dance and acting numbers to a paying audience of around 100 people. After her time with RRA, Izzy went on to join her Primary School's choir and perform in several recitals to parents, students and teachers. She was lucky enough to be selected for a performance at the Royal Festival Hall, and joined the rest of her class as they created their own production of Little Shop of Horrors in their final year. As Izzy left primary school, she joined her sister's dance company Dance Generation, where she took yearly exams and performed in annual shows whilst presenting a variety of different styles, such as Jazz, Ballet, Commercial, Lyrical, Modern, Street and Contemporary. She became very proficient in these styles and earned herself Bronze, Silver, Gold and Gold bar achievements alongside earning Honours (over 90%) in all of her exams, and also earned two special achievement awards in the years 2015 and 2017 respectively. Over the five years of training at Dance Generation, Izzy built up a great repatoire of styles and created so many wonderful memories with such a talented group of young people, it really challenged her to take many risks and put herself under pressure at many points, but she is extremely proud of how she got out of them and the results she achieved by putting herself out there. In 2017, Izzy joined the Bob Hope Theatre actors company and performed in two of their summer shows, where she explored different characters, performance styles and genres. During her time at secondary school, Izzy performed in many musicals and plays, such as The Wizard Of Oz, Girls Like That and Grease where she played the role of Jan. Izzy specifically loved this production because of how much she enjoyed taking on this role and creating a great bond with the rest of the company, she truly loved every second she put into this role, on and off stage and it was the first time Izzy knew she could perform as much more than just a hobby!

Taking the next step
After leaving secondary school, Izzy knew that she wanted to make a career out of acting, and knew the best place for her to do that was at the Miskin Theatre. During her first tour of the facilities, Izzy envisioned herself performing in these industry style spaces and knew it was the perfect place for her to spend the next two years of education. A Levels would never be right for her, as all she wanted to do was act, and when she auditioned for the Theatre, she proved that. Izzy has never been as estastic as she was when she got accepted onto the acting for camera course, she had done so much stage work up until this point and wanted to practice and refnine showcasing her skills in front of a camera, and her first year on the course was the perfect way to culminate all those skills.
Izzy's first year on the acting for camera course consisted of the creation of many short films and scenes, starting off with a group project as a whole company, where everyone had a character group that they had to develop a short, devised scene with on the stimulus of 'The Great Indoors'. Izzy's first challenge whilst being at Miskin was creating the role of the ghost of a girl who's looking over her homeless sister, and she took a big risk taking on a mammoth of a character in her first process. The filming day for this was very challenging as it was Izzy's first chance to work with a crew on a set in a professional environment, she found it very demanding being on location for a long time with not much of a break and a quick turnaround, but it gave her more of an understanding of the other roles on set and how to stay professional in these scenarios. Alongside these short film projects, Izzy got the chance to explore theatre on camera and what it involves when she was cast as Amelia Barnard in the courtroom style drama Jury Service which she performed alongside the second year acting for camera company. This production was a great chance for Izzy to show off all the camera skills she had learnt in the first six months of the course and put them together with the theatre skills she had learnt in previous years, and as hard as it was to showcase a hightened naturalistic performance on screen, Izzy took lots of risks and loved the role she was chosen to play, and this ended up as her favourite production in her first year at Miskin! Another exciting project Izzy took on in her first year was creating her own short film based of an idea based on the comedic lifes of four univi, and she had the pressure of writing, directing, casting, managing locations and equipment and producing this idea on her own, and even though it was a challenge, Izzy created an incredible piece of film where she was able to present her acting and writing skills very well, and she loved getting to create her own production with some amazing actors which inspired her to attempt to make one on a bigger scale in her second year. These pieces of work led to her gaining a Distinction at the end of her first year!

Going into her second year at Miskin, Izzy and the rest of the acting for camera company joined forces with the acting for theatre company to create the 2021 Christmas show Pinocchio, the first big production since the reopening of the theatre after COVID. Izzy was cast as Kitty, the comedic sidekick of Fox who is dumb and often gets belittled and berated by their boss, and she had lots of fun working on the voice and physicality of this character, as well as getting the chance to work in a double cast and as part of a duo. The whole show is based on larger than life performances and lots of energy to entertain audiences of all ages, and Izzy loved performing this show to sold out audiences and getting to explore and experiment on stage again after a year of having to internalise performances, this was a great chance for her to become more physical and exaggerated in her acting and show the directors her versatility. Izzy loves singing, dancing and musical theatre so to include this in her perfomance was exciting for her to show what she can do other than straight acting, and this is definitely Izzy's favourite process at the Miskin so far! As part of her final project on the acting for camera course, Izzy pitched to create her own short film, much bigger than the piece she created in her first year, and was eventually given the green light to write and produce her idea, based on sexual and physical harassment in the workplace. Unfortunately she did not get to create this film due to mental health issues but the hard work and preparation for this film, including writing sessions, rehearsals, schedules, showed that Izzy was determined and passionate about creating a piece that contains a strong message and finally getting her moment to showcase everything she learnt in the past two years on this course, and she wanted to give a chance to the actors who hadn't necessarily been able to show off these skills too. Izzy was so dedicated to creating this film and was extremely disappointed in not being able to make it, but she was able to partly achieve what she wanted on a smaller scale by helping to create a short film based on the premise of a piece made by two fellow actors in the previous year, which she wrote the script for. This wasn't what she set out to do but the project was a success and after all this, she still managed to earn a Distinction in her results! Izzy is now currently studying on the Level 4 Acting course at the Miskin and is enjoying expanding her knowledge and learning more about her abilities as an actor, and she hopes this year will be a great way to develop her skills and work on some challenging but exciting projects!
My Credits
I've had lots of opportunities to showcase my skills on both stage and screen through a variety of productions, and there is plenty of evidence of these projects on my gallery page.
Below is a list of all of the shows and short films I have been a part of, I've learnt so much throughout all of them and all of them have given me a chance to show my versatility and how much I have matured and developed as both an actor and a person.

2019
Grease
Stationers Crown Woods
Academy
My final and favourite show at Crown Woods where I played the role of Jan for all three performances! I got to work with some brilliant actors and I loved performing a show that I'd grown up performing in my living room.
2018

2017
High School Musical
Stationers Crown Woods Academy
Another end of year show with a great company and the chance to produce a performance I was very proud of! I was part of the ensemble and had a solo in one of the songs, and it was great to make my character a lot more personal to me.

My first production as part of Stationers Crown Woods Academy and the first musical I've been a part of! I got a great chance to work singing, dancing and physical theatre and it really enjoyed getting to multi-role and work with different groups of actors.
Short Film (In Training)
2022
At Peace
Mia Kennerson
My final project as being part of the acting for camera company, I got to work with one of my closest and most talented friends on her new idea for a short film about a girl who has a near death experience and begins to see the world in a different way. I loved creating this character and working with some amazing people!
2022
Baby Steps
Alicia Giaccone-Munn
I enjoyed working with a new group of younger actors and a media team to create a great short film based around the subject of miscarriage. I played Reagan, the sister of Alfie who was going through baby loss with his girlfriend, and since this character strongly dislikes everyone else in the family, I loved getting to work with a role that is more of a fighter than a lover.
2021
Life Is Short
Ajay Bhatoa
This was one of the first media films I got the chance to work on as part of our final major project of my first year, and I took on the role of Becky who was the girlfriend of the main character. It was daunting being on a professional location for the first time but I enjoyed being a part of this improvised piece, and I liked getting to do comedy for the first time at Miskin.
2021
Change
Josh Kinnaird
This was a great opportunity to work with not only a new media team, but with actors in my company that I hadn't got a chance to work with yet. I played Nia, a part of the friend group that were close with Lloyd and struggled to get to grips knowing that he committed suicide. This character was very similar to me personally and I enjoyed using that to my advantage.
2021
Flat 18B
Also writer and producer
This was my first real chance to showcase all of my skills I learnt in my first year at Miskin, as well as what I can do outside of acting. I wrote, produced and starred in my own short film about a group of university flatmates who don't get along, and I really enjoyed getting to produce an idea that I had been working on for a long time. I also loved casting this piece and working with incredible actors.
2021
Jury Service
Gavin Brocker
This was the first piece of film we created that we created as theatre on screen, and it was a very complex but exciting process full of mystery. I played Amelia, one of the witnesses giving evidence in the trial and the best friend of the woman on trial, and I really loved trying out different techniques to create this character and make her as naturalistic as possible but big enough for theatre.
2020
Shorts
Chloe Omelia
I loved getting to choose a monologue from a screenplay and turning it into my own short film, and it gave me a chance to explore new characters and age ranges to play around with. I chose Belinda's monologue from Fleabag where she talks about her struggles with womanhood and how thankful she is for the menopause, and I liked looking at the original setting and putting my own spin on it.
2020
The Great Indoors
Paul Stevens
My first project as part of the miskin acting for camera company where we were given the stimulus of 'The Great Indoors'. I played the role of Millie, who is a ghost watching over her sister as she and her companion Jerry navigate life on the streets, and even though this was a challenge for my first role at miskin, I loved researching other roles like these and focusing on how my character came to be in this situation.
